UCF Announces 2016 Fall Schedule, First Game Against South Carolina State On Sept. 3

ORLANDO, FLORIDA (UCFKnights.com) – Preparations for the fall are now underway with the announcement of the 2016 UCF football schedule by the American Athletic Conference on Tuesday.

According to the league office, kickoff times and TV networks for the first three weeks of the season will be announced in June.

The season takes off Saturday, Sept. 3, against South Carolina State at Bright House Networks Stadium. UCF’s annual Family Weekend is slated for Saturday, Sept. 17, against Maryland, while Homecoming is on tap for Saturday, Oct. 15, vs. Temple. It will be the earliest Homecoming Game since 1988 (also on Oct. 15).

Schedule Notes
-Head coach Scott Frost and his staff will make their debut in the 2016 opener at home vs. South Carolina State.
-The season opener marks the second time UCF will kick off a new campaign against the Bulldogs (2008).
-This will be the first time in UCF history that it will take on Big Ten teams in consecutive weeks.
-The Knights have never faced Michigan or Maryland before, but have previously battled current Big Ten teams Nebraska, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue and Wisconsin.
-Maryland will be the second Big Ten school to visit UCF (Purdue in 1999) and the first to play inside Bright House Networks Stadium. UCF was scheduled to host Penn State in 2014 before the game was moved to Ireland.
-Cincinnati will make its first trip to UCF’s campus this year.
-UCF and USF will meet on Thanksgiving weekend for the fourth straight year. The last time they met on a Saturday, though, was in 2008 which was their last rumble before the programs became members of the American Athletic Conference in 2013.
