Florida Tech Panthers Defeat Spartans 8-0 On Rainy Day In Tampa

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – If you were looking for a word to describe Florida Tech’s play as of late hot would be a good place to start. Florida Tech defeated Tampa 8-0 on Thursday, running its winning streak to 11 and improving to 2-0 against Sunshine State Conference competition.
“We did a really good job of closing the net in doubles and with our overall movement,” said head coach Bill Macom.
“Being up 3-0 into singles gave us confidence throughout the match.”
FIT controlled the doubles round. Natasa Vukovic and Chloe Chanley defeated Kristen Mee and Emily Hewland 8-3, while Erin Egoroff and Meritt Rabson topped Maddie Stephens and Danielle Beyes 8-5. Kayla Hergott and Alahna Reto rounded things out with an 8-3 victory over Gianna Pinasco and Lauriane Cardot.
The dominance continued into singles.
Chloe Chanley took down Hewland 6-4, 6-1, while Hergott bested Stephens 6-3, 6-3. Egoroff took her match against Beyes 6-2, 6-2 and Reto cruised past Bridgett Blowe 6-0, 6-2.
Lauren Stuckey was the winner at No. 6, taking down Pinasco 6-1, 6-2. Vukovic was trailing Mee 6-2, 2-6, 1-5 when the skies opened up and the contest was called due to rain.
The Panthers return to SSC action on Saturday, heading to Miami Shores, Florida for a date with No. 2 Barry.
