BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – On Wednesday, Florida Tech concluded its 10-match homestand with a 10-0 record during the stretch after a sweep over Merrimack.
“The girls maintained their smart and aggressive style of play today,” said head coach Bill Macom.
“They will need to continue with the same intensity against Tampa tomorrow. They are a very tough team to beat on the road.”
FIT made fairly short work of the Warriors during doubles play. Natasa Vukovic and Chloe Chanley toppled Grace Messina and Mana Seifaei 8-4, while Erin Egoroff and Meritt Rabson took a 8-2 decision against Danielle Dunn and Mackenzie Blair.
Kayla Hergott and Alahna Reto had little trouble with Lauren Persson and Celine Mende, setting aside the pair 8-0.
It was more of the same in singles play. Vukovic improved to 2-0 on the year against nationally ranked opponents, defeating No. 38 Messina 6-1, 6-3. Chanley dominated Seifaei 6-0, 6-1, while Hergott was a 6-3, 6-0 winner against Persson.
Egoroff took her match with Dunn 6-1, 6-1, while Reto and Lauren Stuckey took down Blair and Mende 6-0, 6-0, respectively.
FIT returns to Sunshine State Conference Play tomorrow, taking a trip across the state to face Tampa in Tampa, Florida. That match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. ET.
