NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The latest outlook from the Storm Prediction Center has placed portions of East Central Florida in a Marginal Risk for severe storms today.

The greatest risk for severe storms will be south of Orlando and Cape Canaveral during the afternoon.

Damaging wind gusts of 50-60 mph and hail up to 1″ in diameter will be the main threat with severe storms. All storms today will produce dangerous cloud to ground lightning strikes and heavy downpours.

Sunday…Considerable cloudiness with showers likely and a slight chance of thunderstorms through late afternoon…Then partly cloudy with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms late in the afternoon and towards sunset. Highs in the mid 70s. West winds 5 to 10 mph increasing to 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon. Chance of rain 70 percent.

Sunday Night…Partly cloudy. A slight chance of showers until around midnight. Breezy…Cooler. Lows in the upper 40s. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph after midnight. Chance of rain 20 percent.
