BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Melbourne Police Department arrested Jean K. Lauriston, 31, recently, for the crime of Attempted Murder and Aggravated Assault, according to Sgt. Trevor Shaffer of the Melbourne Police Department.

On March 20 at around 6:11 a.m., Melbourne Police officers responded to 804 Wisteria Dr. regarding a stabbing incident.

Upon arrival, it was learned that Lauriston and his girlfriend of 9 years were involved in a verbal altercation.

According to a release by police, the altercation took place in a tent which they both share located in the back yard of the residence.

During the altercation, Lauriston became enraged and utilized a screw driver to stab his girlfriend in the back and neck several times causing serious injuries, according to Sgt. Shaffer.

The suspect fled prior to police arrival and his girlfriend was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center for treatment.

An extensive search by police was unsuccessful in locating Lauriston.

At around 8 a.m. of the same day, Lauriston telephoned a friend who convinced him to turn himself in to police. Lauriston then met with police in the area of Nasa Blvd. and Babcock St. and was taken into custody without incident.
