BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a 16-year old male juvenile after a vehicle pursuit on Thursday at about 12:30 p.m.

The suspect was charged with Car Jacking with a firearm, aggravated fleeing and eluding with property damage, resisting with violence, leaving the scene of an accident, aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer and violation of probation.

According to Cpl. John Martinez of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began Thursday at approximately 12:28 p.m. when Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the Merritt Square Mall, located at 777 E. Merritt Island Causeway, in reference to a robbery.

The female victim told Deputies she was approached by a black male subject who forcibly took her car keys and fled the area in her vehicle.

Deputies then located the vehicle traveling west on State Road 520 and initiated a traffic stop. The suspect refused to stop and attempted to flee.

After a short pursuit, the suspect crashed the vehicle in the area of West King Street and River Edge Boulevard in Cocoa Village, and fled on foot.

The suspect, a resident of Cocoa, was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.
