BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE BEACH, FLORIDA – On April 29, Brevard Zoo’s Sea Turtle Healing Center released green sea turtles Chomp and Herbert in Melbourne Beach.

Chomp! was admitted in July 2015 after being found on the beach at Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge.

Herbert was admitted in December 2015 after being found at Port Canaveral by a third grade teacher.

Both turtles were covered in barnacles and suffered from debilitation.

The teacher’s class, from Sculptor Charter School in Titusville, had been following Herbert’s recovery and created a banner and “get well” cards. They were present at the release.
