UPDATE: Brevard County Fire Rescue Ocean Lifeguards have recovered a body in the surf in South Melbourne Beach.  BCFR said that the scene and incident is now in the hands of Brevard County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities have not identified the victim at this time.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE BEACH, FLORIDA – Brevard Fire Rescue reports that multiple agencies are searching in south Melbourne Beach for a swimmer who went missing in high surf Sunday afternoon about 4:40 p.m.

The search is concentrated in the area of North Spessard Holland Park for the swimmer who is a man in his 20s, according to BCRF.

Brevard County Ocean Rescue made 27 grabs from the surf on Saturday and has issued a Rip Current threat warning advising beachgoers to swim near a lifeguard tower.
