BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – Edgewood Jr./Sr. High teacher, Ryan Cilsick will receive the National Marine Science Educators’ Outstanding Teacher Award at the National Marine Educators Association (NMEA) national conference next month in Orlando.

NMEA is an organization of classroom teachers, informal educators, university professors and scientists from around the world who strive to advance the understanding and protection of freshwater and marine ecosystems.

This award recognizes one outstanding, innovative teacher from across the nation each year, and is based on evidence of an engaging classroom environment, quality marine science curriculum and instruction and successful student performance.

Only NMEA members are eligible for this award and documentation must be provided describing candidate’s classroom environment, innovative materials and activities used and/or developed, integration of marine topics into various subject areas, and evidence of successful performance by candidate’s students.
