Florida Tech’s Dunleavy, Martinez Dubbed Panther Student Athletes of the Week

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – After outstanding showings during the week, women’s lacrosse midfielder Caroline Dunleavy and women’s rowing’s Samantha Martinez have been named Florida Tech’s Panther Student- Athletes of the Week.

Dunleavy recorded a team-best six points on four goals and two assists in Florida Tech’s near upset of sixth-ranked Rollins in the semifinals of the Sunshine State Conference Tournament on Friday. Her six points are the third-most in a single game in tournament history.

For her efforts in the contest, Dunleavy was named to the All-SSC Tournament Team. She also recorded her 100th career point in the defeat to the Tars.

Her performance was just one part of the sophomore’s impressive week, as she also reeled in Second Team All-SSC honors after ranking fifth in the SSC in points (45) and sixth in goals (36). She led the Panthers with a shooting percentage of .615.

Martinez was an integral part of the varsity eight boat that captured third at the SSC Championship with a time of 7:07.8. Ultimately, the performance helped the Panthers to their third consecutive third place showing at the conference championship.

Following the regatta, Martinez was named to the All-SSC Team, the second such honor for the senior in as many years.

The women’s lacrosse team completed its second season of existence with a 10-7 record, including a 2-2 mark in SSC play.

Women’s rowing continues its season May 13-14 at the Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta, set on the Schuykill River in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
