YOUR OPINION: Brevard County Commission District 5 Race Commentary
By Vic Luebker // May 19, 2016
I recently saw a video produced by Brevard County Commission candidate Rob Media and I have to say it’s shocking in it’s grossly inaccurate statements, hints of religious zealot based future leadership style and flat out insinuations of wrong doing by many in the community in my opinion.
His wild rant is based on the fact he is getting crushed in terms of endorsements, fundraising and support of leaders and citizens in the community, so he pulls the classic deflection attack stunt used by the likes of politicians we have all grown to dislike and not trust these days.
He uses catch words and phrases like “good ole boy network,” “immoral behavior” and “syndicate” to attack his opponent (whom I support) and in the process imply there is a larger community conspiracy in play that only he can stop.
Now for some facts.
I first want to share a very distinguished list of leaders in business, civics, politics and community that have endorsed a wonderful candidate, mother of six, nurse, humanitarian and devoted public servant: Kristine Isnardi.
Is Rob Medina saying these donors and supporters are part of his mystery “Syndicate of evil doers”? I think some apologies are in order to the people on this list after this outrageous stunt video.
Next I want to address the total lack of qualifications he has given this video and his uber religious rant and mis-leading statements.
He implies he alone will change finance reform laws at the county level based on “morals.”
Wow. First, who made this guy the moral police for the entire county, and has he ever read the citizens united Supreme Court ruling about free speech and donations?
He now will pick the people that can give, and to what candidates they can give to, based on his moral compass? Talk about a scary new world of politics.
I also need to point out he is an aid for a U.S. Congressman and he meets leaders and businesses all the time in that capacity getting a paycheck from us taxpayers. Many of those same leaders and businesses have donated more than $470,000 directly to the district Rob gets a paycheck from in the name of politics.
There is a word for that, and it’s call hypocrite.
Last, lets not look past the future leadership style that he states he will lead based on his God and fix this as he says, “immoral activity.”
So if your Jewish, Buddhist, Catholic, Agnostic or Muslim those values need not apply. Wow again. Us real conservatives are inclusive, not exclusive, and we get being a conservative means much more then some religious doctrine to governing a community.
This is the opinion of a 22-year combat veteran, advocate for good governance and honesty in politics.
