Cocoa Beach police officers apprehended a beach theft suspect on Thursday morning about 10 a.m. According to Cocoa Beach Police Chief Scott Rosenfeld, witnesses observed a 16- year old Merritt Island juvenile steal a cell phone from an unattended bag on the beach at Sea Oats Condominiums, located at 4570 Ocean Beach Boulevard, and then flee on foot.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA BEACH. FLORIDA – Cocoa Beach police officers apprehended a beach theft suspect on Thursday morning about 10 a.m.

According to Cocoa Beach Police Chief Scott Rosenfeld, witnesses observed a 16- year old Merritt Island juvenile steal a cell phone from an unattended bag on the beach at Sea Oats Condominiums, located at 4570 Ocean Beach Boulevard, and then flee on foot.

“The caller led officers to the general vicinity of the juvenile where he was taken into custody by our Officers and charged with Theft and Violation of Probation,” said Chief Rosenfeld.

The victim’s cell phone was also recovered by police.

“This arrest was certainly a team effort,” said Chief Rosenfeld. “Collaboration with the community is vital as we work together to reduce crime. Great job by all.”
