Eastern Florida State Titan Ruben Garcia Signs With Baltimore Orioles

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida State College’s Ruben Garcia has signed with Major League Baseball’s Baltimore Orioles organization after being drafted in the 14th round in the draft earlier this month.
The pitcher/third baseman was assigned to the Gulf Coast League team which plays home games in Sarasota.
Garcia made two appearances in relief this season for the Titans, striking out five in three shutout innings. He was primarily a hitter last season and the Port St. Lucie native hit .286 with 10 doubles, driving in 24 and scored 24 runs.
The Titans finished the season 34-18 and earned their first outright NJCAA District/FCSAA Tournament berth under Tam, finishing second in the Southern Conference.
