The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating a shooting incident involving off-duty BCSO Deputy Yousef Hafza that was reported at about 11:15 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of St. Johns Heritage Parkway and Emerson Road in Palm Bay. BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating a shooting incident involving off-duty BCSO Deputy Yousef Hafza that was reported at about 11:15 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of St. Johns Heritage Parkway and Emerson Road in Palm Bay.

According to Cpl. Dave Jacobs of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Hafza is currently assigned to West Precinct Patrol and has been employed with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office since November 2015.

“The incident is alleged to be road-rage related,” said Cpl. Jacobs in a release.

“As a result of the incident, an individual identified as 22-year-old Clarence Mahogany X Howard of Palm Bay was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced deceased.”

Deputy Hafza was unharmed, and has been placed on paid Administrative Leave pending the outcome of the investigation, which is routine in cases of this nature.

“Deputy Hafza is an 11-year law enforcement veteran, having been previously employed by the Palm Bay Police Department, Orange County Sheriff’s Office and the West Melbourne Police Department,” said Cpl. Jacobs.
