BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Florida Department of Education is now accepting public input on the Every Student Succeeds Act and and Brevard Public Schools would greatly appreciate your engagement in this very important dialogue.

The United States Congress passed the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and then it was signed into law in December 2015 increasing state authority on standards, assessments and interventions, and adds specific restrictions to the U.S. Secretary of Education involvement in state decisions.

Over the next year, the Department of Education will provide guidance through a negotiated rulemaking process and other means. States will be making decisions and exercising flexibility accordingly.

“The public will be able to submit comments through July 22 on each component of the law, and we will consider this feedback as we develop Florida’s draft state plan,” said Brevard Public Schools in a release.
