Michael Bowman, Melbourne Native In Afghanistan, Promoted To Air Force Master Sergeant

KABUL, AFGHANISTAN – Michael L. Bowman of Melbourne, FL was promoted to Master Sergeant on Wednesday at a ceremony at Resolute Support Headquarters.
Bowman is a member of the Air Education and Training Command, 364th Training Squadron, Detachment 1 out of Fort Leonard Wood, MO. He was promoted by Col. Adrian Crowley, USAF.
“I would like to thank my supervisor, Mr. Todd Williams, for pushing me to achieve this milestone,” Bowman said during the ceremony.
“He knew what I could be and encouraged me the whole way.”
Maj. Gen. Gordon B. “Skip” Davis, Jr., Commanding General of Combined Security Transition Command – Afghanistan and Deputy Chief of Staff for Security Assistance, attended the ceremony and congratulated Bowman on his achievement.
“This is a momentous occasion,” Davis said after the ceremony.
“Master Sergeant is a rank in the Air Force where you become a senior non-commissioned officer. Be proud of this moment and congratulations.”
Bowman works in the engineering directorate for Combined Security Training Command – Afghanistan, part of the Resolute Support command. He performs topographic surveys, manages several military construction projects and inspects contractor performance and workmanship.
NATO’s Resolute Support Mission is a key component to the international community’s engagement in Afghanistan, assisting Afghan authorities in providing security and stability, while creating the conditions for reconstruction and development.
