Melbourne Police Arrest 25-Year-Old Suspect For DUI, Violation of Probation

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne Police arrested 25-year-old Tyler Jeffrey Huskins of Melbourne Sunday night on Eau Gallie and N. Apollo Blvd. for DUI, Refusal to Submit a Test and Violation of Probation.
In a release by police, a police officer from the Melbourne Police Department observed a white Toyota fail to yield the right of way at the above location nearly causing a crash.
A traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with the driver later identified as Tyler Huskins.
During this contact, the suspect appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance, according to police, and field sobriety tests were administered.
Huskins was unable to satisfactorily perform them and was subsequently arrested for DUI, according to Lt. T.A. Turner of the Melbourne Police Department.
Further investigation revealed several items of paraphernalia indicative of IV drug use.
Other items were recovered indicative of the abuse of CO’2 inhalants, commonly referred to on the street as “Whippets”. Huskins was also found to be on felony probation with an extensive felony arrest history and a prior DUI arrest, according to Lt. Turner.
He was currently out on bond for possession of cocaine.
He was medically cleared, booked and turned over to the Brevard County Jail.
