BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA – The City of Cocoa Beach is beginning Phase III of the 200 Channel Dredge Project. This is the last phase of this project and is the actual dredging of the channel.

The 200 Channel (also known as Houseboat Cut) is a main connector channel between the intercoastal channel system and the Cocoa Beach local canal system.

This project is a navigational dredge as opposed to the “Muck Dredging” projects which would be classified as environmental dredge projects.

The depth of dredging on navigational projects is limited to five feet as per the permit requirements.

City officials ask that residents exercise caution when navigating the channel during the dredging.

“There may be temporary closures and inconveniences of access to the channel as the contractor proceeds,” said officials in a release.
