BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA –In late August, Florida Tech’s Federica Pala will have the opportunity to experience one of the highest honors in rowing, wearing her nation’s colors at the Under-23 World Rowing Championships. The Italian native will also represent FIT at the World University Championships in early September.

“I am very excited for Federica to have this opportunity to represent both her country and FIT on the World stage,” said head coach Adam Thorstad.

“It is a great reward for her after all the hard work she has put in. It takes a lot of dedication, sweat, and hours to give yourself this type of opportunity.”

Pala earned her spot on the Italian National Team by winning the lightweight single at the Italian U23 team trials, besting 14 of the nation’s top competitors. The sophomore will race in the lightweight single boat at this summer’s World Rowing Championships, slated for Aug. 21-28 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

The native of Oristano, Italy will represent the Crimson and Gray again shortly after, manning the lightweight single boat at the World University Championships Sept. 2-4 in Poznan, Poland.
