The holiday may be over, but the fireworks continue with Mega Millions! No ticket matched all six numbers drawn Tuesday night – 29, 46, 53, 64 and 73, plus the Mega Ball 10, so a whopping $508 million ($357 million cash) estimated jackpot will be offered on Friday, July 8.

Coincidentally, the only two Mega Millions jackpots won this year were drawn on the eighth day of a month – January 8 and March 8. Could Friday’s draw make it a sweep for the 8s?

There were seven million-dollar Match 5 winning tickets in Tuesday’s draw, one each in California, Florida, New Jersey, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and Texas.

In total for the drawing, there were more than 7.3 million winning tickets sold at all prize levels.

The jackpot has been rolling since it was last won at $157 million by Michael Burkett in Washington on March 8. The only other jackpot awarded this year was a $169 million prize won in New York on January 8. That winner, Nancy Viola, was just announced last week by the New York Lottery.

The record Mega Millions jackpot is $656 million – three tickets shared that jackpot on March 30, 2012. Just behind that is the $648 million jackpot split by two winners on December 17, 2013. Those are the only two Mega Millions jackpots in history higher than Friday night’s estimated prize.

The most won on a single ticket was $326 million on November 4, 2014.

If won, Friday’s estimated jackpot would be the seventh largest American lottery jackpot in history.
