DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA – The 45th Space Wing, along with its members, was recognized during NASCAR’s Subway Firecracker 250 held at Daytona International Speedway July 1.

NASCAR driver Ray Black Jr. from SS Green Light Racing supported the wing by displaying the 45th SW name across the windshield of his Chevrolet Camaro No. 07 racecar during the race instead of the typical Xfinity logo that is displayed for Xfinity races.

Other NASCAR drivers who participated in the Subway Firecracker 250 also displayed active military units and installations on their windshield in this year’s ‘NASCAR: An American Salute’ program for the Independence Day weekend.

The Patrick Air Force Base Honor Guard also participated in the event by presenting colors during the singing of the National Anthem before the start of the race.
