(SUNSHINE STATE NEWS) – Is Alan Grayson having the worst day ever in Florida politics? On Tuesday, POLITICO released a story saying the Florida congressman had allegedly abused his wife for over two decades. Grayson’s wife, Lolita Grayson, told POLITICO she had called the police on her husband a total of four times — at least two times in Virginia and two more times in Florida.

By the afternoon, liberal groups Democracy for America and the Progressive Change Campaign Committee rescinded their endorsements of Grayson in the Democratic Senate primary for U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio’s seat, citing the POLITICO article as their reason for severing ties with the Orlando Democrat.

“After today’s revelations of years of police reports about allegations of domestic abuse involving Alan Grayson, we are no longer willing to support and are formally withdrawing our endorsement of him in the race for U.S. Senate,” DFA and PCCC leaders said in a joint statement.

The groups asked Grayson to donate their members’ campaign contributions to an Orlando domestic violence charity, but it is unknown whether Grayson has actually done so.

DFA and PCCC also called on Grayson to donate their members’ campaign contributions to a domestic violence charity in Orlando.
