UPDATE: Bicyclist Killed In Thursday’s Crash Identified By Florida Highway Patrol

Hurshell Cordell, 72, of Cocoa has been identified as the pedestrian who was killed in a crash on Wednesday evening.

Florida Highway Patrol has identified the bicyclist killed in Thursday’s crash as 59-year-old David Smith of Micco, Florida.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Florida Highway Patrol has identified the bicyclist killed in Thursday’s crash as 59-year-old David Smith of Micco, Florida.

According to crash investigator, Trooper Thomas Wenzel of the Florida Highway Patrol, a vehicle driven by 21-year-old Tyler Gates was driving southbound on the St. Sebastian River Bridge when the vehicle clipped Smith’s bicycle who was traveling northbound.

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gates, a Vero Beach native, didn’t suffer any injuries.

The crash still remains under investigation.
