BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – Solaris Senior Living in Merritt Island, located just west of Courtenay Parkway, is a warm and inviting assisted living community with 85 home-like apartments.

The property features spacious floor plans, a range of activities, and a friendly environment that feels like home.

“We believe in family values – that’s at the heart of what we do,” said Jason Rodriguez, Administrator.

The community is designed for those who wish to enjoy an active, healthful retirement with the security of knowing that help is at your fingertips. Licensed nurses and resident assistants are available 24 hours a day.

“The staff here is terrific,” said long-time resident Ann Berney.

“If you need anything at all, they are here for you.” Their team has a commitment to putting quality first, and emphasizes compassion and integrity.

“We think of our residents as family members, and we focus on meeting all their needs – from wellness and nutrition to companionship and social needs,” Rodriguez said.

Residents appreciate having a community van, which offers convenient transportation to restaurants, events and appointments.

Solaris residents love the pet-friendly environment. Pets are more than welcome to live with their owners at Solaris Assisted Living.

The community offers a loyal, long-tenured staff, with some caregivers having worked at the community since 1999.

“Many staff members and caregivers have worked here for nearly 10 years – this really shows their genuine dedication to our residents.” Rodriguez said.

Formerly known as The Place at Merritt Island, the community was acquired by Naples-based Solaris Foundation, Inc.

The non-profit company also operates twelve skilled nursing facilities, including the renowned Solaris Healthcare Merritt Island, the skilled nursing facility right across the street.

“If an assisted living resident needs care at Solaris Healthcare, it’s a very natural transition between the two facilities – the patients already know the staff, and the two facilities are just across the street,” said Leslie Williams, long-time Administrator of Solaris Healthcare Merritt Island.

RANGE OF ACTIVITIES

In addition to quality care, Solaris Senior Living offers a well-rounded slate of activities. Their resident-based activities committee came up with the idea for a recent carnival, a luau with a pig roast and themes for Movie Nights.

“Some of our staff member’s teenage children enjoy volunteering here, which adds to the family atmosphere,” said Rodriguez, whose son’s Cub Scout pack performed holiday carols at the community.

Resident Ann Berney agrees.

“The staff really goes above and beyond. At one point I moved to another apartment within the community. Every single detail was taken care of – all my clothing was hung up, there were cold beverages waiting in the refrigerator – the staff thought of everything!”
