Two Stolen Vehicles Lead Police On Chase In Cocoa Thursday Night, Investigation Ongoing

A Cocoa police officer suffered non-life threatening injuries after a suspect fled an attempted traffic stop Thursday evening.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division are working with Brevard County Sheriff’s deputies regarding a series of stolen vehicles throughout Brevard County including one victim who reported two vehicles stolen on Thursday in Cocoa, according to Yvonne Martinez of the Cocoa Police Department.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division are working with Brevard County Sheriff’s deputies regarding a series of stolen vehicles throughout Brevard County including one victim who reported two vehicles stolen on Thursday in Cocoa, according to Yvonne Martinez of the Cocoa Police Department.

An officer spotted the two stolen vehicles later and immediately began to follow the vehicles from a distance.

The Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit was called to assist with recovery of the vehicles and capture of any suspects but patrol officers ultimately lost sight of the vehicles prior to attempting traffic stops.

BCSO patrol units were also assisting in the BOLO for the two vehicles. The vehicle, a black Chrysler 300 proceeded to Merritt Island where deputies deployed stop sticks disabling the two front tires.

The vehicle returned back to Cocoa via SR 528 and ultimately ended up at 509 Washington St. where suspects exited the vehicle and entered the property.

Cocoa and BCSO units were in the area but were unable to identify the driver. All suspect information was gathered and the suspects remained in BCSO custody. Both were processed and towed when the second vehicle was located abandoned at 1057 Park Dr.

No charges have been filed and the investigation is ongoing.
