ABOVE VIDEO: A 50-year old white male pedestrian was pronounced dead as a result of injuries he suffered from being struck by a vehicle, according to Cocoa Police Public Information Officer Yvonne Martinez.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – A 50-year old white male pedestrian was pronounced dead as a result of injuries he suffered from being struck by a vehicle, according to Cocoa Police Public Information Officer Yvonne Martinez.

According to Martinez, a vehicle was traveling westbound on State Road 524 just west of Cox road about 7 :30 p.m. and struck the victim, who was walking westbound on State Road 524 on the north shoulder.

“Preliminary findings indicate the pedestrian stumbled into the path of the vehicle,” said Martinez in a release.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released.

Traffic homicide investigators responded to the scene and State Road 524 was shut down during the investigation. It has since reopened.
