ABOVE VIDEO: John Tobia is a candidate for Brevard County Commission District 3. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, grew up in England, Virginia and Florida, where he graduated from Satellite High School.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – John Tobia is a candidate for Brevard County Commission District 3. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, grew up in England, Virginia and Florida, where he graduated from Satellite High School.

Tobia currently lives in Melbourne Beach.

His mother is a former public school teacher in Brevard County and his father is a retired Air Force Officer. Stephen, his brother, is a local physician.

Tobia is a political science professor at Valencia College. He graduated from Satellite High School and received an Associate’s Degree from Brevard Community College. He later graduated from the University of Florida earning a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in political science.

Tobia was a Republican member of the Florida House of Representatives, representing the 53rd District, which includes southern Brevard County, since 2012, and previously represented the 31st District from 2008 to 2012.

Tobia has served as the Chairman of Rulemaking Oversight and Repeal Subcommittee. In addition, he has been a member of the Finance and Tax Council, Criminal and Civil Justice Appropriations Committee, Health Care Services Policy Committee, State Universities and Private Colleges Policy Committee and the Joint Legislative Auditing Committee.

Tobia will face Democrat Randy Foster on November 8 in the general election.
