BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Bunny Shaw has slowly been working her way back into the lineup and on Sunday night she showed that hard work is paying off.

The sophomore scored twice and assisted on a third to help the Eastern Florida State College women’s soccer team clinch a sixth Region 8 Conference championship with a 3-2 win over Daytona State at Titan Soccer Complex.

“This is the final and that was the aim, to come out strong,” Shaw said. “I know Daytona has been strong for a first-year program but we have been here and we know how a final is played. We have been to a national tournament already and we just came out and executed.”

With the score tied 1-1 Shaw found Darien Davis who spun and fired a shot into the corner of the net for her 16th goal of the season.

Shaw would score a second goal with just under seven minutes left in the contest but Daytona State kept fighting and scored with six seconds remaining to make it 3-2.

With Shaw, Katie Lockwood and Noreen Eriksen all back on the field, the Titans look to be getting healthy at the right time.

“It is good to have everyone getting back for the important games,” Shaw said. “I tried to do extra work because I am not in shape yet because I have missed a lot of games but my aim was to just play hard and get as many minutes as I can. When I come on the field, I have to perform.”

She did just that Sunday night, helping the Titans get back to a District Championship game next week against the Region 23 champion in a game that will be held at Titan Soccer Complex. The winner will advance to the NJCAA National Championship Tournament which will be at Titan Soccer Complex Nov. 14-19.
