New Location For Free Sandbags By Brevard County Sheriff’s Office

The Brevard County Sheriff's Office will distribute free sandbags to area residents from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, at the Sheriff's Work Farm, 2955 Pluckebaum Road, in Cocoa.
In an effort to better accommodate our citizens’ needs, the North Merritt Island location is being changed to Mitchell Ellington Park located at 575 Hall Road, Merritt Island.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – In an effort to better accommodate our citizens’ needs, the North Merritt Island location is being changed to Mitchell Ellington Park located at 575 Hall Road, Merritt Island.

Due to the incredible response for preparedness by our citizens preparing for the impact
of Hurricane Matthew, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office was able to provide our citizens today with well over 10,000 sandbags.

We apologize for the delays, and ask for patience with this process, as our inmate work crews and staffing are working around the clock to fill and load the bags requested.

To help keep up with the incredible demand, our Inmate work crews and crew supervisors will be working throughout the night to help pre-stage filled bags, however, there may still be delays tomorrow.

The locations and hours of distribution of free sandbags on Wednesday are as follows:

 Brevard Sheriff’s Office Farm, located at 2955 Pluckebaum Road, Cocoa, from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

 Mitchell Ellington Park, located at 575 Hall Road, Merritt Island, from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

There is a limit of 10 sandbags per vehicle. The bags will be filled and loaded into the
vehicles by supervised Inmate Work Crews.
