BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – An 8-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle and killed in the area of Rivera Drive and Woodland Circle in Palm Bay at about 7 p.m. Saturday.

According to Palm Bay Police Public Information Officer Lt. Mike Bandish, officers responded to a call in reference to a pedestrian vs. vehicle crash with a minor child.

“The victim, 8-year-old Wyatt Taylor, reportedly ran into the road and was struck when a 16-year-old male driver was traveling south bound on Rivera Drive, ” said Lt. Bandish in a release.

“Officers responded and rendered medical aid before the boy was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center and pronounced deceased.”

At this time, Traffic Homicide Investigators do not think charges will be filed in this case.

“The 16-year-old driver is licensed and was traveling legally down the street with a parent in the front seat,” said Traffic Homicide Investigator Jeff Reardon.

Investigators are still on scene and expect the road to be closed for another 2-3 hours as they complete the investigation.
