Shooting In Melbourne Injures Man and Woman, Police Searching For Three Suspects

The Cocoa police reported that John Charles McLean, 53, of Merritt Island, Florida, was discovered on Friday at approximately 7:49 p.m., unresponsive inside a vehicle parked at 150 Minutemen Causeway in Cocoa Beach.
Melbourne Police responded to a report of gunshots fired Tuesday night at around 8:30 p.m. near the area of the 2600 block on Panama Dr. and Portofino Villa Apartments in Melbourne.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne Police responded to a report of gunshots fired Tuesday night at around 8:30 p.m. near the area of the 2600 block on Panama Dr. and Portofino Villa Apartments in Melbourne, according to Lt. Shawn Eising of the Melbourne Police Department.

When patrol officers arrived on the scene, they located two victims, one male and one female, who suffered gunshot wounds.

Witnesses stepped forward indicating three suspects had fled the complex on foot. Initial officers quickly secured the scene and attended to the victim’s injuries as secondary officers conducted a search for the three suspects.

The victims were transported to a local hospital where their injuries were deemed non-life threatening.

The investigation is ongoing and the suspects are still at large.
