**UPDATE** BREVARD COUNTY • SATELLITE BEACH, FLORIDA – The Satellite Beach Police Department is currently investigating a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic crash on State Road A1A near Park Ave. that has resulted in the death of the pedestrian, according to Satellite Beach Police officials.

The victim, who was vacationing from New Jersey with his wife and friends, was walking just behind the group as they crossed A1A when he was struck by a northbound vehicle.

The others in the group had safely crossed A1A when the victim was hit.

The victim, 64-year-old Raymond Kellen of Carlstadt New Jersey, was transported to Holmes Regional Medical center but unfortunately sustained critical injuries and died at the hospital, according to authorities.

The driver immediately stopped at the scene and waited for police.

Satellite Beach Police Commander Brad Hodge stated:
“It’s still very early in our investigation, however, based on the information we have it appears that Mr. Kellen did not see the car coming as he followed behind his wife and group of friends as they crossed A1A. There were no indications that the driver was impaired in any way and she was fully cooperative with our investigators at the scene. We will evaluate all the evidence and witness statements as we continue our investigation but at this point no charges are pending against the driver.”
