VIDEO: 9-Year-Old Golden Retriever With Cancer Takes On Day To Remember

ABOVE VIDEO: Monday was a good day for Maverick. Maverick lives with a type of cancer called Lymphoma. A separate nerve issue took away the use of his hind legs.

(FOX 35) – “Good job buddy!” Joey Maxwell said as he gave his dog, Maverick, water.

His roughly 9-year-old Golden Retriever has good days and bad.

“He’s a special dog,” Maxwell said with a smile.

Monday was a good day for Maverick. Maverick lives with a type of cancer called Lymphoma. A separate nerve issue took away the use of his hind legs.

Joey and his wife thought Maverick’s last day on Earth was going to be two weeks ago.

“We wanted him to have one more last big night out,” Maxwell explained.

So, they made sure this doggy had his day.

“He got love from so many different people that night. It was an amazing experience,” Maxwell explained with a smile.

After months of chemotherapy, all you have to do is look into Maverick’s eyes. Maxwell said he’s showing signs of improvement. His cancer is in remission.
