BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Heritage High recently received top awards at the state conference for High School High Tech (HSHT) in Tallahassee.  The club was awarded for outstanding leadership and service and school-based and preparatory experiences.

HSHT provides students with disabilities the opportunity to gain knowledge and pursue STEM related careers.

Membership in the club helps reduce the dropout rate of students with disabilities, provides students with appropriate postsecondary information and guidance, enhances life skills and opportunities for socialization, and it provides employers with a potential source of educated, qualified employees.

The program is funded through a grant from the Able Trust and Vocational Rehabilitation.

The students were recognized for their entrepreneurship activities including the Panther Café, agricultural experiences (development and management of school-based garden), and running the positive behavioral support school store (ordering of products, inventory of products and distribution of products to students).
