BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Kareem Brewton said after the game on that the team is at its best when they can get out and run.

That was certainly true on Wednesday night as the Eastern Florida State College men’s basketball team defeated St. Petersburg 103-80 Wednesday night at Titan Field House on the Melbourne campus.

The sophomore slashed and shot his way to a career high 34 points to lead the attack for the No. 4 ranked Titans.

“It’s such an efficient 34, his maturation from last year is just unbelievable,” Eastern Florida State College men’s basketball coach Jeremy Shulman said.

“He is such a special player, just does such a great job sharing the ball as well as scoring.”

Teammate Austin Awad, who officially signed to attend Winthrop University earlier in the day, had a big night as well with 17 points a couple of big blocked shots and was around the rim all night.

“I just played my role, we really shut them down in the second half, they put up a lot of points but that’s deceptive because they were hitting tough shots and when teams are hitting tough shots, we will win those battles.
