BREVARD COUNTY • WEST MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – West Melbourne police officers responded to the parking lot of Walmart, located at 845 Palm Bay Road, just after 4 p.m. on Wednesday in response to a call of a possible dead body in a vehicle.
“Our officers arrived and located a white Dodge Caravan in the east portion of the parking lot,” said West Melbourne Police Capt. Richard Cordeau in a release.
“When they looked inside, they located a deceased white female who has been identified as 53-year old Jyll Elaine Shultis. Based on the types of items in the vehicle, it appeared Shultis had been living in the vehicle. It also appeared that the body had been there for quite some time. Shultis’ body was turned over to the Medical Examiner’s Office as part of this investigation.”
Surveillance video revealed Shultis’ vehicle pulled into the parking lot on September 26. Detectives are still trying to determine if the vehicle remained there through November 2, or if the vehicle left and later returned during that time frame.
“There were no obvious signs of trauma detected at the scene,” said Capt. Cordeau.
“Furthermore, Detectives have said that no signs of foul play were detected during an autopsy. The case remains active, as detectives are awaiting official autopsy results.”
