BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA – A VIP reception was held recently to celebrate the Grand Opening of the Studios of Cocoa Beach, a 501(c)3 art cooperative that has mobilized the power of the arts, and is enhancing our community with a space dedicated to art, creativity and learning.
In attendance were sponsors and elected officials, and more than 200 guests and supporters of the arts in Cocoa Beach.
The Studios of Cocoa Beach was the brainchild of Tony Sasso and Peter Hain, longtime friends with an interest in improving the quality of life in Cocoa Beach. Doors opened in early October, with 26 artists and artisans showing their work.
They went on to recruit Kim Walker as board president and filled the board with local artists and community leaders.
Workshops started this month, including Saturday morning kid classes, sip ‘n paint nights and master classes with artists such as Rafael Picon and Jaymee Weinreich.
Simultaneously, branding was established with a distinctive space age logo and a call for artists put out to the Brevard community. Artists were juried into the gallery, doors opened and SoCB is now in business just in time for the holiday season.
The space was stripped bare and rebuilt to include custom hanging walls, an exposed ceiling and industrial chic front desk – all designed to highlight the artwork and spirit of Cocoa Beach.
The Studios of Cocoa Beach, located at 165 Minutemen Causeway in Cocoa Beach, is open Wednesday through Saturday 11 a.m. – 8 p.m., and Sunday 12-5 p.m.
