The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a traffic fatality that occurred at about 12:30 p.m. Friday afternoon on Interstate 95 near the Eau Gallie exit.

UPDATE: Decmber 31, 2016 – The Florida Highway Patrol has identified the victim that was struck by the semi-trailer truck as Vincent Cutrona, 26, of Melbourne.

According to FHP, an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances of the inclident.

ORIGINAL STORY: December 30,2016 – Male Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Semi-Trailer Truck On I-95 In Melbourne

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a traffic fatality that occurred at about 12:05 p.m. Friday afternoon on Interstate 95 near the Eau Gallie exit.

According to FHP, a 26-year-old Melbourne man was struck by a semi-trailer truck as the victim walked along the highway.

The victim was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

According to FHP, the truck was traveling northbound on I-95, and for an unknown reason,the victim was on the east shoulder of Northbound I-95.

According to witnesses, the victim moved into the roadway and into the path of the truck.

At this time, it is not known why the victim was walking along the highway and FHP is investigating.
