BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The holiday season is officially upon us! For some, this might mean being bundled up in the cold or trekking through snow, but not for those of us who are planning to spend the holidays on Florida’s Space Coast.

Florida’s Space Coast is the perfect place to relax and unwind during your holiday or New Year getaway. But if you’re looking to do more than lie on the beach and bask in the Florida sun, we’ve got plenty of options for you.

We’ve put together a few ways to make the most of your stay and enjoy some of the holiday cheer on Florida’s Space Coast.

1. Take an Airboat Ride on the St. Johns

Trade in the snow sled for a speedy boat ride along the St. Johns River with Captain Rick and Grasshopper Airboat Eco-Tours. Explore the swamps and marshes searching for alligators, native and migratory birds, and other Florida wild life on a personalized and informative airboat adventure.

Located approximately 30 minutes from Cocoa Beach and Port Canaveral, Grasshopper Airboat Eco-Tours are a thrilling and exciting excursion from the mundane. Give Captain Rick a call and schedule your tour today at 877-794-4991.

2. Dine Like a Local

If you really want to make the most of your stay, you must check out a few of the amazing restaurants along Florida’s Space Coast. From seafood to barbecue — and everything in between — there are plenty of options for your holiday feasts.

If you’re looking for rustic-urban food, unique specialty wines, craft beers and quality handcrafted cocktails, head over to Crush Eleven, located at 11 Riverside Drive, in the quaint Cocoa Village.

A casually hip gathering place, Crush Eleven’s menu changes with the seasons, but you can expect dishes like Sriracha-marinated flat iron steak, grilled duck breast and freshly caught seafood — just to name a few.

3. Catch Santas Catching Some Waves

Finally, get into the spirit of the season by watching Santas take to the waters of Cocoa Beach during the annual Surfing Santas event. This year, make Christmas Eve one that you and your family will never forget, as you witness hundreds of Santas coming together to shred the waves.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the nonprofit organization Grind for Life — a local cancer support group — and the Florida Surf Museum. Additionally, the event includes a festive costume contest with a custom surfboard as the top prize.

The event takes place December 24, at 8 a.m., and is located at the East End of Minuteman Causeway in Cocoa Beach. So get your costume ready, pack your sunscreen and camera, and don’t forget your Christmas list for Santa.
