BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – Runners and walkers of all skill levels are encouraged to race through Brevard Zoo for a “Komodo Krawl” on Saturday, February 11.

Organized by the Running Zone Foundation, the Komodo Krawl 3k will be the 11th annual race held at the Zoo.

Proceeds from the events have thus far raised about $66,000 for the Zoo’s animal wellness, conservation and education programs.

“We started with Buzzard’s Bait in 2007 and haven’t looked back,” said Michelle Smurl, director of animal programs at the Zoo and a co-organizer of the 3k.

“The Foundation does a fabulous job with these races; they really are fun for everyone whether they’re running or not.”

Participants who can finish in under 20 minutes should opt for the 7 a.m. race, while those who need more time can begin at 7:35 a.m. A free “kiddie run” follows.
