BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – As we flip the calendar to 2017, the Eastern Florida State College men’s basketball team looks to continue its winning ways in the Southern Conference.

The Titans have won the past four conference titles but a fifth title will be a tough task as four of the six teams head into the conference season with a winning record.

“Our conference, as always, is absolutely fantastic,” Eastern Florida State College men’s basketball coach Jeremy Shulman said. “There are a lot of great teams but we are ready and excited about it.”

The battle begins on the road as the No. 7 ranked team in NJCAA Division I will travel to Broward, who comes in 8-5 and has won two straight, on Wednesday night.

The Titans will then host No. 16 Palm Beach State in a showdown of 14-1 teams Saturday afternoon. The 2 p.m. tipoff will be the first of three meetings between the two top teams heading into the conference schedule.

“We are ready. We are young, but we are ready,” sophomore guard Kareem Brewton said. “There is stuff we need to work on but everybody is ready for the conference season to get started.”

Brewton leads the Titans into the conference schedule, averaging 22 points per game which is second best in Region 8 and 14th best in the NJCAA.

Saturday’s game will be televised live on WEFS-TV and streamed live at www.njcaatv.com/efsc
