Eastern Florida’s Kareem Brewton Named NJCAA Division I Basketball Player of the Week

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida State’s Kareem Brewton celebrated the holidays with some big games on the basketball court and on Wednesday he was honored for those performances, being named the NJCAA Division I Player of the Week.

Earlier in the day Brewton was named the Region 8 Player of the Week for the second time this season.

It is the first time that Brewton has been named the NJCAA Division I Player of the Week.

The sophomore guard led the Titans to two victories in the Josh Artis Memorial Crowne Plaza Classic, averaging 20 points, five assists and four rebounds in the tournament.

Against Shelton State on New Year’s Eve, the Claxton, Ga. native scored 16 of his game-high 28 points in the first half to help the Titans pick up a big win over the No. 21 team in the nation.

Brewton, who also won the Region 8 award Dec. 6, is averaging 22 points per game through 14 games this season.
