3-Month-Old Infant Dies After Sleeping In Mother’s Bed, Say Melbourne Police

Melbourne Police are investigating the death of 3-month old infant after the mother frantically called 911 stating her baby wasn’t breathing at a residence near Nottingham Rd. in the Sherwood Park Subdivision.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne Police are investigating the death of 3-month-old infant after the mother frantically called 911 Sunday morning at 9:50 a.m. stating her baby wasn’t breathing at a residence near Nottingham Rd. in the Sherwood Park Subdivision.

According to Sgt. Marty Miller of the Melbourne Police Department, dispatchers instructed the woman in CPR while police and medical were responding.

However, when Melbourne Fire Rescue arrived they pronounced the infant dead.

The mother says that she and the child were sleeping in the same bed and when she awoke the child wasn’t breathing, according to authorities.

Further investigation into the incident will be conducted by detectives and the Brevard County Medical Examiner.
