Bat House Program and Workshop Offered At Rotary Park In Merritt Island

Brevard County Parks and Recreation, Central Area, is offering a Bat House Seminar and Workshop, a two-day program at Rotary Park, 1899 South Courtenay Parkway, Merritt Island on Friday, March 17 and Sunday, March 19.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard County Parks and Recreation, Central Area, is offering a Bat House Seminar and Workshop, a two-day program at Rotary Park, 1899 South Courtenay Parkway, Merritt Island on Friday, March 17 and Sunday, March 19.

Friday evening, the program is “Bats in My Backyard” led by Shari Blissett-Clark. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet living Florida bats after the presentation.

On Sunday, the workshop participants will build their own bat houses.

Blissett-Clark, president of the Florida Bat Conservancy, serves on the boards of Bat Belfrys and the Florida Native Plant Society. She travels throughout Florida promoting the importance of bats in the environment, agriculture, and public health.

The event runs from 6 – 7:30 p.m. on Friday and the workshop starts at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. Bat House Workshop fee is $40. Space is limited.
