WASHINGTON D.C. – President Trump’s selection for Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, has been confirmed as the United States’ next Secretary of State by the Senate.

Tillerson, an American businessman, was the chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of ExxonMobil from 2006 to 2016.

Tillerson started his career at ExxonMobil in 1975 and became CEO in 2006.

Senators voted 56-43 largely along party lines to approve Tillerson’s nomination to be the nation’s chief diplomat.

Tillerson, 64, from Irving, Texas, was recently rated by FORBES as the 24th most powerful man in the world.
