Deadly Crash On State Road 520 In Merritt Island Kills 32-Year-Old Man, FHP Investigating

Florida Highway Patrol responded to a deadly crash Friday morning in Merritt Island that killed a 32-year-old man from Orlando at the intersection of State Road 520 and N. Courtenay Pkwy.

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – Florida Highway Patrol responded to a deadly crash Friday morning in Merritt Island that killed a 32-year-old man from Orlando at the intersection of State Road 520 and N. Courtenay Pkwy.

The crash occurred around 6:30 a.m..

According to Sgt. Kim Montes of the Florida Highway Patrol, the victim was traveling eastbound in a 2013 Toyota and ran through a red light, according to witnesses, where his vehicle collided with another vehicle making a left turn onto SR 520 west.

The 32-year-old man was transported to Cape Canaveral Hospital, where he later died as a result of his injuries. The man’s identity is not being released yet at this time as authorities work to notify the next of kin.

The other driver of the vehicle is identified as 58-year-old Dennis Andrews of Cocoa. Andrews suffered only minor injuries as a result of the crash.

Florida Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the incident.
