Florida Tech Panthers Finish Third At Titan Winter Invitational, Max O’Hagan Ties For Second

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Panthers teed off the 2017 season with an impressive showing at the season opening Titan Winter Invitational, scoring a third overall result at Suntree Country Club’s par 72 classic course in Melbourne.

As a team, Florida Tech shot a 28-over par 892 (298, 301, 293) over the two day tournament.

FIT finished three strokes back of second place Keiser (+25) and 10 strokes behind host Eastern Florida State (+18) who won the team title after shooting a combined 882 for the three rounds.

Closing out the Top 5 at the invitational was familiar foe Palm Beach Atlantic (+34) in fourth and Southeastern (+39) in the fifth position.

Freshman Max O’Hagan led the Panthers with a second overall finish, tying EFSC’s Ryan Rozic at two-over par (218), including a 69 (-3) in the final round of competition. EFSC’s Mathieu Echlard won the individual title at four-under par.

Shanren Brienen also snagged a Top 10 result, finishing in a tie for seventh after scoring a 221 (+5) during the three rounds, while Han Xue ended in a tie for 26th at 10-over par (226).

Finishing just behind Xue was Gaelen Trew (+11) and Henrik Honkalehto (+12), who tied for 30th and 32nd in the tournament, respectively.

Rounding out the FIT golfers was Chase Cutshall in 55th place at 21-over par.

Next up for the Panthers is a trip to Lakeland to compete in the Florida Southern-hosted Matlock Collegiate Classic on Feb. 13-14 at Lone Palm Golf Club.
