BREVARD COUNTY • MIMS, FLORIDA – This year, Mims Elementary introduced two new clubs on campus: Boys to Men and Leading Ladies, which promote positive behavior and etiquette on campus.

Boys and girls from first through sixth grades were encouraged to sign up to serve as role models on the campus.

The club members meet twice a month to work on social skills development, manners, and proper etiquette in a variety of settings.

The goal of the Boys to Men and Leading Ladies clubs is to begin to prepare these students for future career opportunities.

“We want them to understand that by conducting themselves in a respectful manner, they can overcome any diversity they may face,” said Allyssa Copeland, teacher on assignment.

“Many of our students enter school lacking the proper social skills needed to appropriately interact with peers and adults.”

The members also engage in “dress for success” days throughout the month.

This year, Mims Elementary introduced two new clubs on campus: Boys to Men and Leading Ladies, which promote positive behavior and etiquette on campus.

These special dress-up days are extended to the entire student body and many students who are not in these clubs also participate.

“Our older students mentor our younger students which encourages positive relationships and helps build a positive school climate,” said Copeland.

“These clubs help our students strengthen communication skills and improve interactions with others. We hope to add even more wonderful young men and women, next year.”
