U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, released the following statement today after the Trump Administration announced new sanctions on Iran:

“These new sanctions on Iran are an important step in the process of reversing President Obama’s failed policy of appeasement, but there’s more to do. In the near term, I urge the Trump Administration to give the American people full transparency about the flawed Iran nuclear deal and any side agreements that the Obama Administration refused to come clean on,” said Rubio.

“I look forward to working with my colleagues in Congress to send the White House strong legislation to counter Iran’s missile and terrorist threats, and its egregious human rights abuses.”

Last month, Rubio and Senators Todd Young (R-IN) and John Cornyn (R-TX) introduced the Iran Non-Nuclear Sanctions Act (S. 227), legislation that would impose harsh financial and economic sanctions countering Iran’s ballistic missile violations, human rights abuses and support for international terrorism.
