BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – Banjoman Franklin, a popular rock band from Titusville, Florida, will perform at the 2017 Titusville Mardi Gras on February 11, at Sand Point Park.

In 2013, three friends came together to start a new musical project with a focus on setting themselves apart from the typical cover band. This concept evolved into what is perhaps best described as an acoustic-based power trio.

Unable to commit to one genre, the group chose a variety of music from different decades to appeal to a varied audience. The group played under a different name each time as the experimental project began to take form. Finally they settled on the name Banjoman Franklin – in spite of no one in the band playing a banjo.

A simple defining mantra evolved; to limit their cover tune repertoire to only songs for which they have a passion for playing. This doctrine has resulted in a fascinating mix of music winding through time; great classic rock of the 60s, the sappiest of 70s ballads, gut-punching southern rock, and all the way to acoustic arrangements of classic and modern heavy metal.

It is music that is simplified, stripped down to the bare essence of instrumentation, and performed with an obvious passion. Described as a breath of fresh air and unafraid to be something just a little bit different, the Mighty Banjoman continues to evolve and expand out to new venues and an ever-growing audience in the Central Florida area.

Banjoman Franklin, a popular rock band from Titusville, Florida, will perform at the 2017 Titusville Mardi Gras on February 11, at Sand Point Park.

Dave McGough – Vocals, Guitars.

Dave is a veteran Central Florida musician who has performed in various bands and as a solo act since the heady days of the 1980s. A graduate of the Atlanta Institute of Music, Dave continues to explore his passion for music in hopes to hold his own against those prodigy kids on You Tube people send him videos of all the time.

James Bruckler – Bass, Vocals

James is an accomplished bassist having played with numerous successful bands. His current endeavors include Banjoman Franklin among others. James’ natural sense of rhythm, solid chops, and knowledge of music theory form the solid base Banjoman is built around. James brings his unique voice to the band’s vocals with lead and backing vocals.

Devin Sease – Guitar, Keys, Percussion, Vocals

Devin’s previous bands have mostly seen him behind a drum kit, where he honed his craft as a stellar drummer. Now in Banjoman Franklin, Devin is able to showcase his versatility as an accomplished guitarist, vocalist and most recently keyboardist. Devin also holds down the beat with a variety of percussion instruments for some of the diverse repertoire of Banjoman Franklin.

A taste of authentic Caribbean culture will reverberate through Sand Point Park in downtown Titusville when Plena Mar Latino, a Puerto Rican group of 12 dynamic musicians, will perform their exciting and entertaining sound at the Titusville Mardi Gras Street Party & Parade, Saturday, February 11 in historic downtown Titusville.

Plena Mar Latino started as a group of four (4) members consisting of: Güiro, Punteador, Seguidor and Requinto. Then the congas, trumpets, trombones and bass were added.

Today the group consists of twelve (12) professional musicians in its branch, and thus highlighting that typical acoustic sound that is still heard playing in the corners of our neighborhoods in Puerto Rico. But at the same time it is our attempt to maintain a tradition that, instead of staying, distant and forgotten, is reinvented originally and dynamically.

A modern group, full of energy, with young, modern visions and with much desire to continue our own style but still reserving the feeling of what is full.

That’s why they are different from the other groups in Central Florida. They have participated in several Puerto Rican parades and multiple social activities, such as: The San Sebastian Street Festival in Orlando and Miami, The Bomb and Plena Festival in Tampa, The Cultural Festival in Miami and The Hispanic Festival in Jacksonville among many others.
